Police confront Bangor man caught with his pants down

By Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN Staff

A resident on Leighton Street called Bangor Police Department early Saturday morning to report a man acting suspicious. When Officer Gary Decker arrived at the corner of Leighton and Linden streets he found a 24-year-old Bangor man standing outside, naked from the waist down, Sgt. Paul Edwards said Monday.

“He was caught with his pants down around his knees and everything exposed,” Edwards said.

Decker asked the man, later identified as Andrew Duchesne, to pull up his pants during the 2:20 a.m. incident, but he “just wouldn’t do it,” Edwards said. The suspect, who smelled of intoxicants, was forced to the ground and arrested.

Bangor police Officer Russ Twadell arrived to assist with pulling up Duchesne’s pants and placing him in the back of Decker’s cruiser for his trip to Penobscot County Jail. Duchesne was charged with indecent conduct and refusing to submit to arrest.

A Brewer woman who broke into an apartment in her apartment building was caught red-handed, Brewer police Sgt. Arden Jones said Monday.

Jessica Salls, 21, was caught around 6:15 p.m. Saturday inside an apartment of another tenant at the South Main Street apartment building where both she and the victim live. Salls had left by the time officers arrived, but was found by Detective Sgt. Jay Munson, Jones said.

“Jewelry was taken and recovered,” he said.

Salls was arrested and charged with Class B burglary, which is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine up to $40,000. She was taken to Penobscot County Jail Saturday night and made bail Monday evening, a jail official said.
