Topsham girl recovering after 2 days in ravine

The Associated Press

LEWISTON, Maine — The mother of a Topsham teenager who spent two days trapped in a ravine says her daughter is going to make a full recovery.

Katherine Perrault says 17-year-old Kourtney Thibeault is coming out of sedation and is in good spirits.

Perrault spoke to reporters Tuesday at the Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

Perrault says the girl went off the road and into a ravine while swerving to avoid a deer.

Kourtney disappeared Nov. 17 while on her way home. She was found two days later by a Topsham police officer who noticed a tree broken at the edge of the roadway.

Kourtney told her family she was pinned in the car by the dash.

Perrault says Kourtney suffered a broken leg and broken jaw.
