Will holiday shopping rebound this year?

There are some signs that the economy is beginning to climb from the depths of recession. Will retailers see evidence of renewing consumer confidence in the weeks

leading up to Christmas? Or will consumers remain careful and frugal? Is the U.S. economy based too heav-ily on consumer spending? What can be done to revive a

manufacturing- or research-based economy?
