3 Husson squads vying for conference titles

Husson University’s two soccer teams and field hockey team will vie for North Atlantic Conference championships and a berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament this weekend.

On Saturday, the 9-8-2 Husson men’s soccer team, the regular-season champ, will host second seed Castleton State (Vt.) at 1 p.m. Castleton State is 10-6-3. The two teams battled to a 3-3 double-overtime tie on Oct. 11 in Castleton, Vt.

Also on Saturday, the fourth-seeded Husson field hockey team, 8-7, will travel to take on third seed University of Maine-Farmington, 10-7, also at 1 p.m. UMF won both regular-season meetings by 2-1 scores, including one in overtime, and beat Husson in the 2007 final 3-1.

On Sunday, the 14-5 Husson women’s soccer team will visit 11-5-2 Castleton State, the regular-season champ, beginning at noon. Second seed Husson is gunning for its fourth straight NAC crown. Game time is noon. Castleton State won the regular-season game 1-0 on Oct. 11 in Vermont.
