Army extends grenade-launcher production in Maine

SACO, Maine — General Dynamics says it has been awarded a $13 million Army contract to extend production of MK19 grenade launchers in Maine.

General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products says deliveries will begin next year and extend through late 2011. The contract extension bring the value of the contract initially awarded last year to $81 million.

The MK19, a portable machine gun that fires 40mm grenades, is produced at a plant in Saco, Maine. The division’s engineering center is located in Burlington, Vt.
