HANCOCK, Maine — Two men face charges after they were caught allegedly night hunting early Wednesday morning.
Deputy Christopher Thornton of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department received a report shortly after midnight Wednesday from a resident who reported that a vehicle was parked near his house on Tidal Falls Road in Hancock and that two men with a flashlight were walking along the road.
The deputy went to the scene, according to his report, and found the two men had been night hunting and were searching for a deer they had shot.
The two men, Christopher Weaver, 19, of Franklin and Donald Power III, 19, of Ellsworth, were arrested and charged with night hunting, possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle and illumination of wildlife. Weaver also was charged with possession of a suspended license and the civil violation of possession of a usable amount of marijuana.
Also arrested was the driver of the vehicle, Ashley Lozada, 19, of Ellsworth, who was charged with operating a motor vehicle without a license.
