BAR HARBOR, Maine — David Herr of Cannan, Vt., won the 26th annual Mount Desert Island Marathon in impressive fashion with a best-overall time of 2 hours, 35.22 minutes Sunday while Amanda Labelle of Dedham took the women’s title with a time of 3:03:28.
It’s the sixth overall title and fourth straight for Herr, 44.
The eighth annual running of the 26.2-mile marathon drew 600 runners despite cold and rainy conditions. Twenty-eight-year-old Erik McCarthy of Orono was second overall with a time of 2:42:24. The women’s runner-up was Maura Adams of Penacook, N.H., with a time of 3:12:08.
In the men’s race, Paul Prewitt-Freilino of Providence was third (2:57:00), Steve McCarthy of Greene (257:10) fourth, and Edward Steinfeld of Lexington, Mass., (2:58:37) fifth. Brewer’s Jonathan Goupee was sixth in 2:59:22 and Andy Beardsley of Surry eighth in 3:02:44.
In the women’s race, Reshanna Taylor of Westport Island was third in 3:12:14, Diana Rodriguez Tobon of Albany, N.Y., fourth in 3:21:08, and Elizabeth Brunton of Birch Harbor fifth in 3:21:56.
Another Maine runner and 2006 MDI Marathon winner, Debbie Moreau of Turner, was 10th in 3:28:38.
