Town of Winslow, Maine Police Chief Position The Town of Winslow, a Central Maine community with a population of approximately 7,743 seeks an experienced, dynamic, innovative professional to fill an anticipated opening in the position of Police Chief. The Winslow Police Dept. is a progressive organization with 9 full time sworn officers, 1 civilian employee and 10 reserve officers. The successful candidate must have demonstrated leadership abilities; possess a community service oriented policing philosophy; and must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Minimum requirements include: college degree, supplemented by various courses/training in modern police administration; seven (7) years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience with three (3) years of administrative supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education, experience and training; must have graduated from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy (MCJA) “Basic Law Enforcement School” or have been waived or be eligible for such a waiver by the Academy; must be able to obtain the Executive Development Certificate from the MCJA. The individual must have a valid driver’s license. The ideal candidate must also be able to successfully pass an extensive background check. The Town of Winslow offers an excellent benefit package.
