MISSISSIPPI and NEWBURGH – Charles H. Dunton Sr., 82, died unexpectedly Oct. 1, 2009, in Mississippi. He was born April 26, 1927, in Hampden, the son of Ernest J. and Dorothy (Cowan) Dunton. He lived most of his life in Hampden and Newburgh. He was a veteran and served in World War II. Charlie was known throughout the community for being a great plumber. Charlie and Evelyn enjoyed going to Fryeburg Fair every year, taking day trips on Sundays and playing cards with friends and relatives. He is survived by his two sons, Charles H. Dunton Jr. of Eddington and Alan S. Dunton and his wife, Cindy, of Newburgh; grandchildren, Charles H. Dunton III of Mississippi and Cindy Byrd of Mississippi; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth (Dunton) Philips Parker of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and one brother, Alec Dunton of New Hampshire. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Evelyn (St. Louis) Dunton; brothers, Edwin Dunton and Robert Dunton. Private graveside services will be held at a later date.
