SWANVILLE, Maine — A Hope man was charged with operating under the influence and other violations after he rolled his sport utility vehicle over on North Searsport Road on Saturday night.
Daniel Scott Dodge, 46, who was not injured in the crash, was charged with operating while under the influence of intoxicants, operating after suspension and violation of conditions of release after the 8:42 p.m. accident.
According to Waldo County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Dale Brown’s accident report, Dodge was headed south in a 1999 Toyota RAV 4 when he lost control of the vehicle near Lakeside Burner Service and it rolled off the road.
Brown stated that when he arrived at the scene he observed Dodge sitting on a rock pile talking to an ambulance attendant. Brown said that when he spoke to Dodge he detected the odor of alcohol and that when he asked whether he had been drinking, Dodge replied that he “had a few.”
Dodge was on bail at the time of the accident and his bail conditions forbid him from consuming alcohol. He was placed under arrest and taken to Waldo County Jail and transferred to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset where he is being held without bail.
