AUGUSTA, Maine — Maine state offices will be closed Friday as part of a series of shutdown days to balance the state budget.
The Legislature earlier this year approved 20 state shutdown days over a two-year period. Most of the unpaid days off are near holiday weekends. State offices will be closed Monday for the Columbus Day holiday. Friday’s is the fourth of 10 state shutdown days this fiscal year.
While most offices will be closed Friday, state parks and historic sites will remain open, the Department of Conservation said. Forest rangers will also remain on duty. The state court system will also be open.
