Pittsfield to cut back transfer station hours

PITTSFIELD — The town’s recycling and transfer station will adopt new hours of operation beginning Sunday.

Town Manager Kathryn Ruth said the change is being made in an effort to reduce operating expenses, which is necessary because of a reduction in revenue receipts that has been ongoing all year.

The center, located at 1063 Peltoma Ave., now is open seven days a week. Due to the change, the center now will be closed on Sundays and Mondays and will be open 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday. Ruth said despite being closed for two days a week, operating hours have been extended on the other days to accommodate people who work or are unavailable during the day.
