RSU 20, SAD 3 clinics for flu shots canceled

BELFAST, Maine — Because of the lack of seasonal influenza vaccine for school-based clinics, all previously announced flu shot clinics in RSU 20 and SAD 3 have been canceled.

Future clinics will offer both seasonal and H1N1 vaccines and will be rescheduled when sufficient supplies of both vaccines are on hand. According to information provided by the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, those clinics could be scheduled by early November or as late as early December.

Rob Fowler, infection control and prevention nurse at Waldo County General Hospital, is working with state and school officials to be prepared to hold the clinics as soon as the vaccines become available.

The Belfast Public Health flu clinic scheduled for 8 a.m.-noon Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the hospital’s Education Center will be held as scheduled.
