ORONO, Maine — The University of Maine will hold Take Back the Night, an evening dedicated to raising awareness about sexual and domestic violence, and violence against women, starting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the area behind Fogler Library.

All community members and students, male and female, are invited to attend.

Take Back the Night, in its 25th year as a campus event, will feature a survivor speak-out to provide an opportunity for those affected by sexual violence to share their stories. The event will conclude with a candlelight vigil and march through campus.

Other events Tuesday will be a keynote address by Rep. Emily Cain of Orono and a performance by Renaissance, an all-female a cappella singing group

More than 200 people are expected to attend Take Back the Night, which is sponsored by UMaine’s Student Women’s Association and the Safe Campus Project.
