WESTON, Maine — Law enforcement in Aroostook County is asking for the public’s help in solving a burglary and theft that left a Weston man without some valuable property in June.

Sgt. Shawn Van Tasel of the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department said recently the incident took place sometime between June 12 and 26.

The burglary and theft occurred at a camp and storage shed on Bancroft Road, Van Tasel said.

Police said that one or more people entered the camp and shed by cutting the padlocks on the doors and took a Remington .22-caliber rifle, a DVD player, two ladder-style tree stands and a McCulloch 3200 chain saw.

The perpetrators remain at large. The Sheriff’s Department is investigating this case, but so far has had no solid leads.

The Sheriff’s Department has listed the incident as the Aroostook County Crime Stoppers Crime of the Month.

Crime Stoppers is a nonprofit organization that helps law enforcement officers solve crimes and encourages residents to be involved in reducing crime in the region. Anyone with information on the case or any other crime is asked to call Aroostook County Crime Stoppers at 800-638-8477. Callers do not have to identify themselves by name.

Anyone providing information this month that leads to a grand jury indictment on this crime is eligible for a $1,000 reward.

Crime Stoppers also will pay for information on other felony crimes.
