SEAL COVE – Agnes “Aggie” M. Butler, 84, died Sept. 20, 2009, surrounded by her loving family at a Bangor hospital. She was born May 2, 1925, in Seal Cove, the daughter of Julian Y. and Julia M. (Kelley) Harper. Agnes loved flowers and gardening, enjoyed crocheting and family picnics. She was a great cook and will always be remembered for her biscuits and pickles. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She is survived by four sons, Carroll, David, Jacob and Peter Butler, all of Seal Cove; five daughters, Yvonne Black and Rose Sargent, both of Eastbrook, Mildred Butler and Gwendlyn Butler, both of Seal Cove, and Molly Jones of Stonington; three sisters, Eva Goodwin and husband, John, of West Tremont, Sophronia Campbell of Seal Cove and Katherine Curren of Southwest Harbor; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Agnes was predeceased by her husband, Harland “Harley” Butler; a daughter, Minnie Henderson; sister, Frances Willey; two brothers, James and Julian Harper; two grandsons, Nicholas Hamor and Timothy Powers; and by a granddaughter, Jodi Butler. Friends are invited to call 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Dr. Richard Tardiff officiating. Interment will be at Center Cemetery, Seal Cove.
