University of Maine System trustees announce public sessions

BANGOR, Maine — The University of Maine System board of trustees will host a series of public comment sessions at each of the seven university locations, as they complete a plan created as part of the UMS’ New Challenges, New Directions Initiative.

The purpose of the sessions is for campus community members to provide feedback and input regarding the recently proposed UMS plan titled “The Final Report and Implementation Plan of the New Challenges, New Directions Initiative.” A copy of the plan is available at www.maine.edu/UMSNCND. Students, faculty, staff and members of the public are invited to provide comments on the plan.

The schedule for the meetings is listed below. As locations and times for the October meetings become available, they will be posted at www.maine.edu/UMSNCND, see “schedule” link:

Friday, Sept. 25 — UMF, Farmington — Meeting schedule: 9:30-10:45 a.m., president’s staff, location TBD; 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m., UMF board of visitors, North Dining Hall room C; 1-2:30 p.m., public comment session, Lincoln Auditorium.

Monday, Sept. 28 — System Office, Bangor — Public comment session: 1-2:30 p.m. Rudman board room, 3rd floor, 16 Central St.

Thursday, Oct. 1 — UMPI, Presque Isle.

Friday, Oct. 2 — UMFK, Fort Kent.

Wednesday, Oct. 7 — UMA, Augusta, with University College and University College of Bangor via videoconference.

Wednesday, October 21 — USM, Portland, with Lewiston-Auburn College and Gorham via videoconference.

Monday, Oct. 26 — UMM, Machias.

Wednesday, Oct. 28 — UMaine, Orono.
