AUGUSTA, Maine — More than 100 Bowdoin College students have come forward with flu-like symptoms since the start of the academic year, but the Brunswick college says more than half of them have recovered and are back in classes.

Dr. Dora Anne Mills, Maine’s health director, gave updated numbers on the swine flu Thursday. After her briefing, Bowdoin said students still experiencing symptoms are in isolation. More than a dozen have gone home to recover.

Five cases possible cases of swine flu have also been reported the University of Maine.

Mills said Maine is going to continue seeing swine flu outbreaks in schools. The state expects to receive H1N1 vaccines starting in October and clinics are planned in public schools and on college campuses.
