Grand Lake Stream guide Randy Spencer will celebrate the publication of his first book during a launch party and book signing on Sept. 26 at the Pine Tree Store in Grand Lake Stream.

The event, which comes a day after the book’s official release, begins at 11:30 a.m.

Spencer’s book, “Where Cool Waters Flow: Four Seasons With a Master Maine Guide,” is published by Maine’s Islandport Press.

According to an Islandport press release, the book will put readers in the seat of his Grand Laker canoe and take them out on the trails, lakes, rivers and roads of Grand Lake Stream.

In the release Spencer said Grand Lake Stream is a place people “come to in their imaginations to relive moments, hear the lap of waves against the side of the canoe, see those impossibly blue skies, and those clear, star-bejeweled nights. They depend on Grand Lake Stream as a kind of mental Xanadu, which, whenever they need or want to, they’re able to conjure up.”

Spencer is also a singer-songwriter who has released five CDs, including “Footprints in the Sand.”
