Energy forum for Down East area on tap

MACHIAS, Maine — Maine Partners for Cool Communities and community leaders from three Washington County towns have joined together to hold a forum on smart energy in those towns.

In Calais, the forum will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Washington County Community College.

In the Lubec area, the forum is scheduled for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the Cobscook Community Learning Center in Trescott.

In Machias, the forum is set for noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at the University of Maine Cooperative Extension office.

The Smart Energy Forums will include energy tips and information about funding opportunities. Featured at each forum will be a presentation by John Brautigam, Public Utilities Commission director of energy programs, who will provide an overview of resources, services and new grant funds that are available to Maine mu-nicipalities, businesses and homeowners.

Community and business leaders will briefly describe current and future energy projects in their area, and forum participants will be invited to share information about local energy initiatives.
