BOSTON — Coast Guard aircraft and fishing boats on Friday searched for a 31-year-old Maine man who apparently fell overboard from a fishing boat about 125 miles east of Truro, Mass.

The crew of the 63-foot stern trawler Bella Rose, from Bass Harbor, Maine, called for help Friday afternoon when they realized that one of the fishermen who had been on board was missing. The Coast Guard identified the missing fisherman as Chris Hopkins of Bass Harbor.

The Coast Guard said its jet and helicopter, the Bella Rose and other fishing boats have encountered 6-foot seas and winds blowing at 15 miles an hour while searching for the man.

A New Jersey-based Coast Guard cutter also was headed to join the search.
