DONALD M. WELLINGTON BANGOR – Donald M. Wellington, 86, passed away peacefully Sept. 6, 2009, surrounded by his family at a Bangor nursing facility. Donald was born March 6, 1923, in Monticello, son of the late Joseph and Carrie (Hanning) Wellington. Donald grew up and attended schools in Houlton before serving his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. Donald then worked at the Bangor Auditorium for 31 years as the maintenance supervisor before retiring in 1985. Donald was a faithful and active communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bangor. Donald is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Dorothea M. (Riley) Wellington of Bangor; his son, Daniel M. Wellington and wife, Jennifer, of Bangor; his daughter, Dale M. Robertson of Brewer; grandchildren, Michael and Kevin Wellington of Bangor, and Kyle Robertson of Brewer; and siblings, Virginia Wolfe, Margaret Wellington, Louise Cantone and Jack Wellington. Donald was predeceased by his two sisters, Elizabeth Wellington and Joanne Ferris; and four brothers, Delmont Merrithew, Basil Wellington, Robert Wellington and Paul Wellington. Donald’s family thanks the Maine Veterans’ Home for their care and compassion during his stay. Family and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Ohio Street, Bangor. Interment with military honors will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Ohio Street, Bangor.
