AUGUSTA, Maine — The Land Use Regulation Commission will meet Sept. 23 in Bangor to consider whether to grant Plum Creek final approval of the company’s Moosehead Lake development plan.
The commissioners have largely endorsed the project, which would rezone roughly 16,000 acres to allow 975 house lots and two resorts in the Moosehead region. Key to the commissioners’ preliminary approval of the application is Plum Creek’s proposal to conserve 366,000 acres of forestland in the area.
LURC staff and Plum Creek representatives have spent the past several months fine-tuning the proposed concept plan, which remains extremely controversial. Staff members will present their final recommendation to the commission at the Sept. 23 meeting.
The meeting is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Ramada Inn at 357 Odlin Road. The meeting is open to the public, but the commission is not expected to take comments from the audience.
