AUGUSTA, Maine — The average price of heating oil in Maine has fallen 2 cents in the past week, the first weekly decline in six weeks.
The Maine Office of Energy Independence and Security said Monday that heating oil averaged $2.40 a gallon in its weekly survey. It was the first price decline since mid-July.
The highest price was found in northern Maine, where No. 2 oil averaged $2.65 a gallon. The lowest price was in southwestern Maine, where it averaged $2.27.
The survey said kerosene was selling for an average of $2.80 a gallon, which was down 2 cents a gallon since last week.
