Body of missing swimmer pulled from Maine river

BRUNSWICK, Maine — The body of a Maine man last seen swimming in the Androscoggin River on Thursday has been found.

Brian Jewett of Pownal would have celebrated his 31st birthday Saturday. He was last seen swimming in the river near the Brunswick-Topsham Swinging Bridge on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, Jewett’s body was found above the hydroelectric dam.

The state Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death.

State and local police and a dive team helped search for the man.
