ELLSWORTH, Maine — An Ellsworth teenager has been charged in connection with a head-on collision Sunday on Red Bridge Road.

Dakotah A. French, 18, was issued a summons on a charge of driving to endanger after the accident in which several people were injured, none of them seriously, according to Lt. Harold Page of the Ellsworth Police Department.

French was traveling east on Red Bridge Road and passed two vehicles at a high rate of speed, according to Page’s report. As she crested a knoll on the road, her vehicle hit head-on a westbound vehicle driven by Mark P. Dagle, 32, of Ellsworth. The impact spun both vehicles around and they came to a stop off the side of the road.

Both air bags in French’s vehicle deployed. Neither she nor her passenger was wearing a seat belt. There were three passengers in Dagle’s vehicle. The report did not indicate whether they or the driver were wearing seat belts.

Dagle was able to get out of his vehicle on his own, but lost consciousness once he was free of the vehicle. Two passengers in his vehicle suffered minor injuries.

Both French’s 2001 Subaru and Dagle’s 1998 Ford were considered total losses in the accident.
