MONROE, Maine — A Brooks motorcyclist was hospitalized with a head injury after he collided with a car on West Main Street on Sunday night.

David Roche, 49, was riding a 2008 Harley Davidson west on Route 139 at 7:15 p.m. when an eastbound 2000 Saturn driven by Jason S. Skillings, 21, of Monroe made a left hand turn into a driveway in front of him and struck his mo-torcycle. Roche, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown to the pavement, Waldo County Chief Deputy Robert Keating said Monday. Skillings was uninjured.

Roche was taken to Waldo County General Hospital by Brooks Ambulance.

Damage to the motorcycle was estimated at $5,000 and damage to the car was estimated at $1,000.

Deputy Kevin Littlefield handled the investigation.
