Motorcyclist injured in Shirley has surgery

SHIRLEY, Maine — A Massachusetts motorcyclist who was seriously injured late Wednesday afternoon when he lost control of his bike on a sharp curve on Route 15 in Shirley underwent surgery Thursday morning at a Bangor hospital, according to the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department.

James McGinnis, 54, of Dedham, Mass., suffered massive head, internal and upper torso injuries, Investigator Dave Wilson of the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department said after the accident. The officer said McGinnis was not wearing a helmet when the accident occurred at 6 p.m.

A spokeswoman at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor said Thursday afternoon she had no information about McGinnis.
