DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine — House and dormitory parents who will serve Foxcroft Academy’s tuition students both on and off campus received training Wednesday to better serve their charges.

Kim Samson of Milton Academy in Massachusetts was hired by the academy to present workshops for the approximately 20 parents.

All 24 rooms in FA’s new campus dormitory have been spoken for this fall, along with the rooms in two dormitories across the road from the campus. There are six apartments for dorm parents in the new state-of-the-art campus dormitory that was completed last month.

The secure dormitory features slate floors, carpeting, large rooms, a common kitchen area, and a keyed and card entry into the building and rooms.

Samson spoke about the rules and regulations of serving as a dormitory parent and how one should interact with students and parents. Some of the participants role-played to help in the instruction process. Samson also provided information about networking with school officials.
