WINTERPORT – Kermit E. Lowe, 71, passed away Aug. 11, 2009, at a Bangor hospital. Kermit was born Aug. 15, 1937, in Winterport to the late Oliver and Susan (Gordon) Lowe. Kermit grew up and attended Winterport schools. He worked for Lane Construction as a truck driver for many years before his retirement in 1996. Kermit was a member of Winterport Odd Fellows as well as Calvary Apostolic Church, where he was a retired deacon and elder. Kermit will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. Kermit is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Madeline E. (Hart) Lowe of Winterport; his children and their respective spouses, Leroy Mayhew, Scott Chambers, Megan Spann, David Lowe, Albert Lowe, Michael Lowe, Jessica Lowe and Edward Lowe; grandchildren, Raymond and Brian Mayhew, Mandi Spann, Albert and Dezirae Lowe, Elizabeth Lowe and Samantha Lowe; a special nephew, Sterling F. Lowe II; a special niece, Sharon Norris; as well as several other special foster children, nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to mention. Kermit was predeceased by 12 siblings; and a grandson, Douglas Mayhew. A memorial service to celebrate Kermit’s life will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at Calvary Apostolic Church, Route 1A, Winterport, with Pastor Tom Channell officiating.
