BANGOR, Maine — Delta Air Lines has announced that beginning Dec. 1, it will no longer offer its twice-daily flights from Bangor International Airport to Logan International Airport in Boston because the flights are no longer profitable.

The announcement came shortly after another carrier, Continental Airlines, officially pulled out of BIA.

Assistant Airport Director Tony Caruso said the recent announcement was bad news for the airport but also emblematic of a troubled industry.

“We were finally starting to reverse some passenger trends, so this is definitely disappointing,” he said.

Delta will continue to offer daily flights from Bangor to Detroit and Bangor to JFK International Airport in New York.
