RUMFORD, Maine — State and local police are awaiting autopsy results as they investigate a double-homicide in the western Maine town of Rumford.
Maine Public Safety Department spokesman Steve McCausland says the bodies of 23-year-old Victor Sheldon and 46-year-old Roger Day have been taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Augusta. Autopsies were expected Tuesday morning.
McCausland says the shootings occurred at the house Day was renting and was reported at 9:30 p.m. Monday. He says Sheldon was staying with Day.
McCausland says investigators aren’t commenting on what they think happened in the home. He says several people have been questioned but there have been no arrests.
