BIRCH HARBOR – Del E. Chipman, 51, passed away Aug. 2, 2009, surround by his loving family at a Bangor hospital, after collapsing at the golf course. He was born March 7, 1958, in Bar Harbor, the son of Alice B. Chipman and the late Vinton M. Chipman. Del was an avid sports fan and he loved his Red Sox. He enjoyed playing poker with his son, Rob; and his many friends. Del loved his four sisters, they each held a special place in his heart, and he enjoyed being pampered and doted on by them. Del also enjoyed watching TV and drinking tea with his mama. They are all going to miss him dearly. He is survived by two sons, Robert Chipman and his friend, Stephanie, of Orono and David Chipman and his wife, Heather and soon to be grandson, Christian Isaac, of Baltimore; his mother, Alice B. Chipman of Birch Harbor; four sisters, Jane Haycock and her husband, John, of Birch Harbor, Annie Award and her husband, David, of South Gouldsboro and Florida, Millie Chipman and her friend, Dan Swanson, of Eugene, Ore., and Lou Ann “Lucy” Brenton and husband, Stephen, of Birch Harbor; two special friends, Pi and Jamie; several special nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. In addition his father, he was predeceased by two brothers, Ed Chipman in 2001 and Edgar E. Chipman in 1952. A service of remembrance will be celebrated 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth.
