BANGOR, Maine — A Bangor man was arrested Friday night and faces a number of charges after he led Officer Tim Shaw on a car and foot chase through the east side of town.
James Green Jr., 28, was charged with operating after suspension, driving to endanger, eluding an officer and criminal speeding.
The incident occurred at about 11:45 p.m., just as Shaw turned on his vehicle’s blue lights while on Harlow Street to head to a separate incident. As Shaw attempted to pass a blue Chevrolet Tracker, the Tracker sped up, leading Shaw on a chase through Somerset, Broadway, Essex and Garland streets.
The Tracker then veered onto a lawn on Grove Street when Green, who was driving the vehicle, leapt from the slow-moving Tracker and ran on foot. The Tracker crashed into a tree.
Old Town police K-9 Officer James Green arrived to help track down Green, who was located later. Two occupants who remained in the Tracker were cooperative with officers.
Green was still in Penobscot County Jail on Sunday night. His bail was set at $2,660. (Jessica Bloch, BDN)
