Maine offers free park entry today

The Associated Press

AUGUSTA, Maine — Mainers can visit state parks and historic sites for free as part of the Bureau of State Parks and Lands’ annual Maine Day.

Conservation Commissioner Patrick McGowan says the free admission on Saturday aims to give thanks to Mainers for their appreciation of the state’s 47 state parks and historic sites, which receive more than 2.2 million visitors each year.

McGowan says he urges everyone to go the state’s Web site and find a place they want to visit.
