PORTLAND, Maine — The Coast Guard’s three-masted tall ship, Eagle, is in Portland Harbor this weekend for a visit to Maine’s largest city.
The Eagle, which serves as a training ship, is making its second stop in Maine. Its first stop was in Rockland. Next up is the Tall Ships Festival in Portsmouth, N.H.
The Coast Guard says the 295-foot ship has 22,300-square-feet of canvas to collect the wind and propel the ship. Each summer, the Eagle conducts cruises with cadets from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and officer candidates.
