PARIS, Maine — A judge has sentenced a Sumner man to two life sentences following his convictions for two counts of murder.
Duane Waterman was sentenced Thursday in Oxford County Superior Court by Justice Roland Cole. WCSH-TV says Waterman showed no remorse during his sentencing. An appeal is planned.
A jury last month convicted Waterman of murder in the deaths of 50-year-old Timothy Mayberry of West Paris and 43-year-old Todd Smith of Paris, who were shot to death at Mayberry’s home in July 2008. Prosecutors said the shootings stemmed from a dispute over money and drugs.
