BANGOR, Maine — A Corinth man was sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court in Bangor to five years and 10 months in prison for downloading child pornography.

Arthur W. Cole, 41, also was sentenced to 10 years of supervised release after he completes his prison term.

Cole pleaded guilty in October 2008 to having more than 200 visual images of children, all of which were produced out of state. One image of a young boy engaged in sexually explicit conduct was traced to a case in Florida, according to court documents.

The pornography on Cole’s computer was discovered in 2007 when his screen name was used in a real-time chat with a detective posing as a 14-year-old. Cole has been held without bail since pleading guilty nine months ago. That time will be credited to his sentence. He faced up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
