If you were commissioner of the Department of Marine Resources, how would you respond to the tensions on Matinicus Island? Are the fishermen no different than mill workers who see their hours cut because of the recession, or do they have a legitimate gripe with mainland lobstermen? Does living on an island distort one’s view of law and order? If so, how can that attitude be addressed?
