BANGOR, Maine — Top-seeded Brewer and No. 3 Bangor each picked up a victory during Saturday’s play at the American Legion Zone 1 tournament, while No. 2 Hampden stayed alive by ousting No. 4 Steamboat Petroleum of Waldo County in the third game of the day.

Bangor scored seven unearned runs with two outs in the top of the fourth inning to rally from an early 45-3 deficit. Shane Walton’s three-run double to left field sparked that rally.
Ian Edwards worked seven innings to gain the pitching win, and also contributed a three-run homer and a bases-loaded walk. Josh Tardiff and Cody Miller each doubled and singled for Hampden.

Eric White hit three singles and walked twice with two RBIs as the Falcons earned the victory.
Tyler French added two singles and scored two runs for Brewer. Chase Daniels pitched eight innings to earn the victory, with Pat McEwen earning the save.
Casey Ashey singled twice for Steamboat Petroleum, while Jack Davis added an RBI triple.

Back-to-back RBI singles by Cody Johndro and Shawn Smith in the sixth inning enabled the Riverdogs to break a 3-3 tie and advance in this elimination game.
Smith and Derek Amoroso each had two singles and an RBI for the defending Zone 1 champions.
Amoroso also worked six innings on the mound for the win, while Jordan Richards allowed just one run over the final three innings to earn the save.
