New lawyer: Woman charged with beating husband stands by story of intruder

The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Maine — A new lawyer for a Standish woman charged with attempted murder in the beating of her husband says she had no motive and is sticking with her story that an intruder attacked her husband and shot her.

Lawyer Daniel Lilley says Linda and Jeffrey Dolloff didn’t own a baseball bat and questions where the one authorities say was used in the beating of Jeffrey Dolloff came from.

He also says it would have been foolhardy for Linda Dolloff to shoot herself, because the bullet barely missed vital organs and shattered her hip.

Lilley acknowledges that the couple was preparing for divorce, but says the split was amicable.

District Attorney Stephanie Anderson says Jeffrey Dolloff continues to recover from the attack.
