STRONG, Maine — A man from Strong was killed early Monday morning in a motorcycle crash near his home, according to a press release from Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.
The crash was discovered Monday evening after relatives began searching for 47-year-old Carl Chadbourne, who had not returned home. Trooper Scott Stevens reported that Chadbourne’s body was found by relatives with his Harley-Davidson motorcycle after 5 a.m. Tuesday, in woods off Route 145 about two miles from his home.
Stevens said Chadbourne lost control of the motorcycle on a curve and it crashed into woods, down an embankment and into a small stream. The body and the motorcycle were located about 40 feet from the road, according to the release.
Chadbourne last was seen on his motorcycle along Route 145 about 2:45 a.m.
Chadbourne was not wearing a helmet, the release said.
