BANGOR, Maine — A man and woman robbed a middle-aged transient woman of prescription pills at knife point Tuesday afternoon in Gomez Park.
“It is brazen,” said Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards of the robbery, which occurred about 2:30 p.m. in Gomez Park off Washington Street.
Edwards said the suspects — a young man and woman — met the victim about an hour before the robbery took place, during which time they learned the victim had prescription pills.
According to police, the victim was approached later by the suspects, who threatened her with a knife and demanded the drugs. After she refused, the suspects threw the victim to the ground and wrestled the pills from her pocket before fleeing toward Pickering Square.
The suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of prescription drugs and a couple of personal items, Edwards said.
Based on the description of the suspects, Edwards said, police have a “pretty good idea who did it.”
“We got a pretty good couple of leads,” he said.
The victim, a transient from Missouri, did not suffer any injuries that required hospitalization, Edwards said.
Edwards said it appeared to be an isolated incident.
