SCARBOROUGH, Maine — A new record’s been set for the fastest mile by a mare in Maine harness racing.

Gracie Gracie, a 6-year-old, finished the mile in 1:55 in the $6,000 Open Distaff event at Scarborough Downs on Sunday afternoon.

It was the 12th seasonal win for Gracie Gracie. She’s owned by Sharon Proctor and Frederick Ward, Jr. of Brunswick.

Sunday’s driver was Kevin Switzer, clocked quarters of 28, 57.4 and 1:26.4 before cruising home unhurried.
