BUCKSPORT, Maine — A local man suffered serious multiple injuries Monday when he failed to negotiate a curve on Route 15 in Bucksport, left the road, struck a mailbox and was thrown from his motorcycle.

Martin Larsen, 33, was operating a 1995 Harley-Davidson without a helmet and with a suspended driver’s license, according to the Bucksport Police Department. The motorcycle also was unregistered and Larsen did not have an endorsement on his license to operate a motorcycle.

Police said speed was a factor and that charges were pending in the crash.

Bucksport police, fire and ambulance personnel went to the scene, and Larsen was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

Members of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office and the Ellsworth Police Department also responded. Ellsworth Police Officer Chad Wilmont reconstructed the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.
