ST. DAVID – Bertha Leves-que, 64, better known to her friends and family as “Gaetane,” died peacefully July 16, 2009, in the presence of her loving family, after a long battle with lung disease, at a Fort Kent health care facility. She was born July 14, 1945, in Edmundston, New Brunswick, daughter of the late James and Elise (Hebert) Beatty. Before her illness she enjoyed coffee time with her friends who paid her frequent visits. She also enjoyed playing cards and bingo weekly. She was very fond of her family and grandchildren, and she took great pleasure in spending time with them. Gaetane is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Joel Levesque of St. David; three daughters, Tina Bodnar and her husband, John, of Nashua, N.H., Jean Ouellette and her husband, Bruce, of Madawaska and Sarah Jones and her husband, Scott, also of Nashua, N.H.; six beloved grandchildren, Stephen, Amber, Cody, Kimberly, Lauren and Tyler; eight sisters, Leola Cyr of Madawaska, Rosa Prevost of Gloucester, Ontario, Lilianne Blanchard, Gladys Cyr and her husband, Fernand, and Jeannette Beatty, all of Edmundston, New Brunswick, May Nadeau and her husband, Roger, of St. Jacques, Jeanne D’Arc Cambria and her husband, Joe, of Kenneth City, Fla., and Mona Ellis and her husband, Alan, of Jacksonville, Fla.; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Gaetane was predeceased by three brothers, Sydney, Clarence and Leonard. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, July 20, at St. Gerard Church, Grand Isle. Friends and family may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. until the time of service Monday at Daigle Funeral Home. Interment will be at the parish cemetery.
