Crowley helps pace Trenton by Penquis

DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine — Mike Crowley capped a seven-run fourth inning with a two-run single as Trenton of Blue Hill defeated Penquis 10-2 in Zone 1 American Legion baseball action on Thursday.

Collin Ciomei had an RBI double in the fourth for Trenton to back the six-hit pitching of John Carlin. Nolan Hall had a run-scoring triple in the fifth and Peter Dickinson singled and drove in two runs.

Josiah Richard hit two singles and scored a run for Penquis. Josh Conroy scored the other run.

Motor City 6, Orono 4

At Mahaney Diamond, Orono, Casey Hull hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning to break the 3-3 tie and lead Motor City of Bangor to victory over Orono.

Jon Johnson closed out the seventh to pick the save for Motor City. With the bases loaded, he recorded a strikeout and a groundout.

Charlie Merritt hit a two-run triple in the fourth inning, Jon Johnson had an RBI single in the fourth and Chris Potter singled twice. Hull also doubled in the first.

Dan LeBreton led the Twins with a two-run homer in the third inning. Charlie Boyle singled twice and LeBreton added a single.

Reporting games

During this busy sports season, the BDN asks that managers and coaches for the home teams promptly report the games. Games can be reported starting at 5 p.m. on Monday through Friday and 3 p.m. on Sundays. Games can not be reported on Saturday.

Coaches and managers are urged to provide details for both teams when reporting games. First names of players on both teams as well as statistics are needed. Those not providing full details for both teams run the risk of the games not being published in the paper.
