Maine Blaine House hopefuls post fund filings

The Associated Press

AUGUSTA, Maine — As the first finance disclosure reports in Maine’s fledgling gubernatorial race trickled in, the campaign of Republican developer Bruce Poliquin of Georgetown said he has amassed about $277,000 — nearly $160,000 contributed by himself.

Poliquin’s total dwarfed that of another early declaring Republican candidate, Matthew Jacobson, the president and chief executive of Maine & Co. from Cumberland. Jacobson on Wednesday reported raising about $40,000.

The most prominent early declaring Democrat, former attorney general and House speaker Steve Rowe, has said initial fund raising netted more than $59,000 in the first three weeks of his formal campaign.
