PITTSFIELD, Maine — A family was displaced Sunday afternoon when a fire destroyed their Hussey Road home.

No injuries were reported from the blaze.

Firefighters received a call about a fire at the single-family home around 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Pittsfield firefighters were quickly on the scene but were limited in their assault on the fire until additional crews arrived from other towns, said Dean Billings, assistant chief with the Pittsfield Fire Department.

Billings said the homeowner reported that he was doing yardwork when he heard a popping noise and turned around to see his house on fire. The Fire Marshal’s Office has been called in to help determine the cause of the fire.

Billings said the American Red Cross is offering assistance to the unidentified family.

Firefighters from Detroit, Newport, Hartland, Canaan, St. Albans and Burnham as well as Sebasticook Valley Hospital ambulance crews assisted on the call.
