WATERVILLE, Maine — Maine’s festival season is under way, with two of the biggest festivals kicking off in Waterville and Rockland.
Now in its 12th year, the Maine International Film Festival in Waterville features about 100 films from around the world beginning Friday. The festival continues through July 19.
Director Arthur Penn will receive the festival’s Lifetime Achievement Award. His credits include “Bonnie and Clyde” and “The Miracle Worker.”
In Rockland, thousands of people are expected to attend the 16th annual North Atlantic Blues Festival when it kicks off on Saturday. Blues artists will perform at Rockland’s Harbor Park during the two-day event.
